HyperFit: personalized health management

HyperFit is a project aiming at building a mobile service for personalized health, diet and fitness information to help people self-manage their health. Target users are Diabetes 2 patients, heart disease patients and overweight young male adults.

HyperFit project aims at building a mobile service to deliver personalized health, diet and fitness information to help people self-manage their health. An example service is a system that helps in achieving a balance of diet, exercise and rest. Target users are for instance Diabetes 2 patients, overweight young male adults and heart disease patients.

Elements of the service are as follows:

-Interactive tracking systems. These collect data on the diet and exercise of the user. They also give feedback to the user based on her actions. Iteration tools are provided to help users construct a plan to best fit their personal needs.

-Basic information on diet and nutrition. Multimedial and game-like presentation of information is used to motivate especially the weight management of young adult males (18-30 years old).

-Links to other material and information. These may include for instance food product data.

Innovative mobile information gathering and sensing techniques are used in the project to gather needed information for the system to function.

The project is lead by VTT (Finnish State Research Center).
