D’Arcy John Oaks is an Instructional Systems Designer for the Walter E. Dennis Learning Center at the School of Education at OSU, and a PhD Candidate in the School of Communication. He is interested in broadcast and print news media, violence, and propaganda, and new media, design, and education. His dissertation project examines issues of online group work, especially the role of familiarity and conversational strategies on performance and satisfaction in educational networked environments.


D’Arcy John Oaks’ dissertation project explores aspects of distance education and team work, including how familiarity, conversational strategies, and configurations of media affordances affect performance, satisfaction, and communication processes,
