Wijnand IJsselsteijn is a neuropsychologist and media psychologist working, since 1996, on the scientific investigation of how humans experience and interact with advanced media technologies, such as stereoscopic television, virtual environments, or mobile communication services. His current research interests include social presence, connectedness, and awareness systems supporting intimate social networks; haptic communication interfaces; multisensory (audio-visual) interactions; and stereoscopic display quality. He usually - not always - take the perspective of applied experimental psychology when studying these areas. He is specifically interested in how to conceptualise and measure the human experience in relation to media.
