The M.I.N.D. Lab at Eindhoven University of Technology was established in 2002 as the first European partner in the MINDlabs network. The research focus is on HCI, ambient intelligence, and multisensory perception, with a range of projects covering these areas. The Eindhoven MINDlab can be regarded as a center of expertise on presence research.
The Eindhoven M.I.N.D. lab has a range of facilities at its disposal, including a Reach In platform, which integrates a Phantom haptic feedback device with a stereoscopic mirror display, an AEA 20” dual monitor stereoscopic display, and an immersive VR system (V6 HMD/ Flock of Birds tracker). In addition, M.I.N.D. lab staff have access to measurement equipment, simulation software, and shared technical and administrative support facilities.

The combined facilities for research in the area of Human-Technology Interaction at TU/e are unique for the , and among the best in Europe. Faculty at the M.I.N.D. lab are also affiliated with the J.F. Schouten School for User-System Interaction Research, which is the only research school in this area to be recognized by the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences for its scientific excellence. The Department of Industrial Design of TU/e is also formally affiliated with the J.F. Schouten School. Close cooperation with industry and within European networks ensure the applied relevance and international outlook of research done at the M.I.N.D. lab and elsewhere at the TU/e.
